Jack Update

Here are a few pictures to update you guys on what Jack's been doing. :)

He's gone for his first walk. He was asleep before we left our driveway.

Jack isn't a huge fan of tummy time... but seriously he's got some muscles already. Pretend like I'm not in the picture.

Jack also had his 2 week dr. appt. It was quite sad when they had to give him the Hep. B shot. :( We've never heard that cry/scream before. They also did the 2nd newborn screen. As far as his measurements are concerned....
Weight: 7lbs 12 oz 50% (YAY!! He gained all his weight back he lost in the hospital PLUS some!)
Length: 20 1/2 inches long 75% (he's already grown a 1/4 of an inch in 2 weeks)
Head Circumference: 36.5 cm 55%

Lastly... Jack had his first photoshoot by Emily Baker. She is soooo talented. We are extremely thankful for her taking the time to come and take pictures of Jack. The following pictures are two she took and for our Ozark friends and family out there. :)

Jack's 1st Bath

So... I really am going to try and update you guys as much as possible. However, I am not doing such a great job so far. I guess once we get into a more set routine/schedule, I will have more opportunities to blog.

As for now... I have pictures from Jack's 1st bath. Overall, he does not mind the baths. You can tell he LOVES the warm water.

Negligence on my part

WOW!! I can't believe I haven't blogged since March 17!?!? MUCH has occurred since that time. Let me go back a couple of weeks.

Since I last posted... every time we went to the doctor, we heard the same thing.

• Baby looks good; growing like crazy; measuring a little bigger than the actual gestational week.
• Drink as much water as possible.
• Cut down/back on sodium as much as possible. (I had the most boring diet EVER!!!!) Breakfast- Raisin bran and a banana
  Morning snack- apples or apples and grapes
  Lunch- Grilled Chicken salad with honey mustard dressing, fruit, water and milk
  Afternoon snack- apple or apples and grapes
  Dinner- baked potato, grilled chicken salad (or occasionally I would eat Raisin bran again), more fruit
• Sit down with your feet elevated throughout the day. (My swelling had gotten REALLY bad)

With all of that I still had LOTS of swelling. I was waking up several times throughout the night, but was always able to go right back to sleep. Thank the Lord!! If you know me, then you know I LOVE/NEED my sleep.

Once my weekly doctor appts. began, it was all the same news.

0% effaced
Baby J hasn't dropped.
Same story every time.

This brings us up to last week. Tuesday April 21, John and I trucked it over to the medical center to see my dr for another appt. Once again, she told me the same news, but added, "I think he's in it for the long haul." I was crushed. At this point, I am tired ALL the time. I am dragging/waddling when walking anywhere. I seriously did not know how I would make it to May 2nd.

So the next morning ,I get up and head to work because I had to save my days!! After work, I came home and decided that we needed to start getting things ready. I did not want to sit down and elevate my feet. And actually for once... John let me work around the house. Together we packed Baby J's bag for the hospital, picking out some potential coming home outfits. John even said, "We need to take another belly picture." I believe the last belly pictures we had posted were of me at 33 weeks. (we did not take any between then and now- :( I regret this ). So we decided at 38 weeks and 4 days that we should probably take a picture. Here they are below for you to see. It looks fake to me. All I can say is WOW!!

So after we finish messing around the house, we decide we should probably get to bed, especially me, since this little escapade wore me out and I would be heading back to work the next day!

So that night... it's no different, I wake up several times for restroom and Tums to relieve my yucky heartburn. Each time, I am able to go back to sleep. However at 2:30 in the morning, I wake up for a different reason... this time... I don't need to go to the restroom and I don't have heartburn. It took me all of 1 second to realize... my water broke. Now "research says" that some women have a trickle of water while others have a gush. Let me tell you... mine was NO trickle at all!! I didn't think there was that much liquid inside my body. (sorry if that's TMI)

So... I kind of freak out... I am "running" (if a pregnant woman this far along can run) to our restroom where the tile is because I couldn't let the carpet get wet. As I make it to the tile, in a calm but purposeful voice, I say, "John... I NEED you to wake up." Once he realizes what is happening, all we can do is laugh. At this point, there was no pain, just water EVERYWHERE!! I call the Dr. on call and she says, to come on to the hospital.

We make it to the hospital about 3:30 where we are still laughing at the situation. Honestly... we were just EXCITED because we knew what this meant. Who cares that it was 9 days sooner than we had anticipated. As soon as we get there, we are set up in a labor and delivery room. I have another exam (same as the normal dr appt) and I am told the same thing as before. I'm not even dilated to a 1. However, the nurse is positive that my water broke. I could have told her that!!!!

After the exam, we are told that I would have to be induced since my water had broken and I wasn't progressing on my own. I swear, Baby J hadn't dropped yet either. It was still all in my ribs. So 7:00 a.m. rolls around and I am induced.

At 4:11 p.m. Jack Robert Cobb Suchecki breathes air for the first time!!

Jack weighed in at 7 lbs 10 oz and measured 20 1/4 inches long.

Today John and I have been married for 3 years. We are truly blessed to have our son celebrate this anniversary with us. :)

More updates to come... such as Jack's first bath.

Pictures of our Baby at 33 weeks

Today John and I went to the doctor for another ultrasound. Baby J did not want to cooperate one bit. The ultrasound tech was literally chasing him around. She was trying to get good shots of him, but he wouldn't have anything to do with it. He was pretty stubborn today and did not want to show us his face very much. We did not get a very good 3D picture today. However, you can see in the 3D picture how chunky his cheeks are. Sooo stinkin cute!!

As far as his estimate weight, he is approximately 5lbs 4oz right now. However, I have heard that the estimates can be way off sometimes. So only time will tell when he chooses to come, how big he really is.

Shower of Blessings

This past weekend, John and I went to big ol' Mt. Pleasant, Texas for our first baby shower. We are truly blessed with the family and friends that came. It was so nice to spend some time catching up on life. I also enjoyed getting some Mommy advice!! I still have so much to learn. I know everything will come in time though.

I brought my camera, but I did not take that many pictures. My Aunt Sara took lots of pictures and emailed them to me. However, I am brain dead. I downloaded them, but I have NO idea where I saved them. :( Here are the few pictures from my camera.

Baby Suchecki Betting Pool

John and I have put together a betting pool for Baby J. If you are interested, here is a copy of the rules:

Baby J Birthday Betting Pool Rules

This betting pool is for fun and for anyone who is wanting to participate. The winner will receive 75% of the pot. The remaining 25% will be put into a savings fund for Baby J for his future college/life/retirement/health etc… Obviously, the more that enter, the more the potential winnings will be for the lucky individual. The due date (as set by the doctor) is May 2^nd. We will not provide any other information regarding the birth as to keep the pool as unbiased as possible. In the event of a scheduled appointment to either induce labor or perform a cesarean birth, we will not divulge this information so that we can protect the integrity of the pool.

1. The price is $10.00 per square.

2. Whoever guesses closest to the delivery date and time will win.

3. The time for each hour will begin at the top of the hour and end one second before the next hour (eg. 7:00:00 to 7:59:59).

4. The dates available are from midnight April 11^th to 11:59:59 p.m. May 9^th.

5. The “One dollar, Bob” clause: Since the Baby could be born before April 11^th or after May 9^th, whoever were to choose these bookend slots would receive an unfair advantage. To curtail this, the first eight slots (beginning at midnight on April 11^th and ending at 11:59:59 on May 9^th) will be priced starting at $50.00 (descending each hour by $5.00) to $10.00 or ascending from $10.00 to $50.00.

6. If you choose to purchase the 4:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m slot on April 11^th for $30.00 and someone else chooses to purchase the 2:00 a.m. to 3:00 a.m. slot on the same day for $40.00, you will not receive a refund. So sorry!

7. All picks are final! No changing!....EVER!

8. When you make a selection, write your name across the time on the chosen date and please write your name, the date and time you chose and your phone number on the list in the back of the packet.

9. All money is due when you make a selection. No IOU’s!
