Jack's Big Boy Seat

Yesterday we decided to try Jack out in his Bumbo seat. He looked so stinkin cute sitting in there. When I first put him down he immediately turned his head and started watching TV. I guess he thinks of it as his "TV watching chair". However, Jack lasted a whole 3 minutes in the Bumbo seat. We will have to try it again another time! Here are some pictures I was able to get before he started his fussing/crying.

Watching T.V.

I had to turn his seat and then sit in front of the T.V. to get a picture of him in his big boy seat. He liked whatever was on T.V. That's for sure!

Happy boy for a few minutes!!

Daddy and Jack! Right before the fussing/crying began.

First Swim

Today John, Jack, Woodrow and I went to the farm in Bay City for some relaxation. We also thought we would take Jack and Woodrow for their first "swims". Here are some pictures from our day.

I promise Jack really did like the water.
This was actually right before we got him out.

Daddy and Jack

Momma and Jack (he kept hiding his face-- I think the sun was just too bright)

Easing him into the water.

Jack hanging out in the water with Daddy.

I took Jack back to the truck to change out of his wet diaper.
He fell asleep before I could even get his swimming trunks off of him. :)

Jack taking a nap with his shark towel.

Woodrow's turn!

He LOVED the water. He would jump in the water every time he went to retrieve.

Bringing it back.

Isn't that just the cutest puppy?!?!?

Happy 2 Months Birthday Jack

Today Jack turned 2 months old. Time really has flown by already. I wouldn't mind if it slowed down just a bit. Since he is now 2 months old, the immunizations begin. :( I was not looking forward to them today when we took Jack in for his 2 months check up. Daddy helped hold him still and the nurse made sure to give them quickly. It wasn't as bad as I thought they would be. However, if John's schedule stays the same as it is now, Jack and I will be without him for his 4 month check up. EEKS!! We will cross that bridge when we get there.

Now for Jack's Stats:
Height- 23 1/4 inches (exactly 3 inches longer from birth) 50%
Weight- 10 lbs 11 oz. (just over 3 lbs more than he was at birth) 25%
Head Circumference- 15 1/2 inches (almost as big as the circumference of his Daddy's forearm) 45%

Now for Jack's photo shoot with his Sock Monkey. We need to come up with a name for him. Any ideas?!?!
I like this picture because he was looking at his Daddy.

Check out his chubby belly! :) I love it!!

What Jack is up to these days:
  • Tracking Momma and Daddy as they walk by
  • Smiling up a storm
  • Cooing and talking like crazy (he stares at our mouths when we talk to him)
  • Trying to sleep through the night (I think he just likes that Momma gets up with him in the middle of the night)
  • Looks in the direction of his Momma's or Daddy's voice
  • Loves cuddling with his Momma and Daddy
  • Enjoys being read to (I think he just likes our voices)
  • Has been to the YMCA several times and has no clue (he sleeps the whole time in his carseat)
  • Loves his paci
  • Speaking of the carseat- Jack LOVES his carseat! He doesn't mind hanging out in there while we run errands.
  • Traveled to Waco to see family last Saturday. (pictures below)

Daddy drove to Waco so Holly and I could spend time with him for Father's Day! Of course he took advantage of this time to hang out with Jack as well.

Jack also go to meet Julie!!

Kyla finally got to hold Jack.
Joshua and Jack meet.
Jack also got to meet his Grandma Jody. However, I did not get a picture of them together.

It's Official

Jack can NO longer fit in his newborn clothes. :( He's getting big way too fast!!

SLOW DOWN JACK!!!!

Sidenote: I am blogging from my phone. This is a first for me.

Our New Normal

It's been almost 2 months since Jack entered this world. WOW! I can't believe he is been with us that long!! During this time, the normal that John and I knew before no longer exists and we are perfectly OK with this! :)

It is now normal...
  • to find burpcloths and bibs all over the house
  • for me to hang out in my PJ's for the majority (sometimes all) of the day
  • for John and/or me to have spit up dried to our clothes (maybe even our skin) at some point during the day (sometimes several times a day)
  • to be up everyday around 6:00 am and not go back to sleep til bedtime (NO MORE SLEEPING LATE!!!)
  • for Jack to have more clean clothes than either one of his parents
  • to be peed on and it's not a big deal at all
  • for either one of us to be saying, "I LOVE HIM!" or "SERIOUSLY!! I LOVE HIM!!"
  • to speak in a high pitched voice the majority of the day
  • to feel a sense of pride when someone asks about Jack is doing; or wants to meet him/hold him

We absolutely love our son and are truly blessed to have him in our lives. I can't imagine my life without him. I don't even know what it was like before Jack was here. I can only imagine the memories we will make with him throughout the years!

Auntie HJ Comes to Visit

This past weekend Jack and I were home alone while Daddy worked at 24 hour shift. Since he was gone, we BEGGED Aunt Holly to come and visit to keep us company. Plus... Jack REALLY missed his Auntie. :)

Here are a few pictures that were taken from my camera while she was here. Holly ended up with better and more pictures. We will post some of those when she emails them to us.

Aunt Holly and Jack

Happy Boy Jack!

Holly and I attempted to take some video of Jack. We are NO good whatsoever! But here is what we ended up with. We were trying to catch him smiling and talking by the way.

In this video, I take away the burp cloth. Holly thinks it's funny.

Jack shows Holly what's funny... This is why the burp cloth should have stayed put.

Locks of Love

Something I am passionate about is helping others. One way that I enjoy helping other people is by donating my hair. Last Tuesday, I went in and donated 10 inches of my hair to the Locks of Love Foundation. The donated hair provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children in the United States and Canada under age 18 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis. If you are interested in donating your hair check out the Locks of Love website.

Here are some guidelines to follow when donating your hair.
HOW TO DONATE
  • 10 inches measured tip to tip is the minimum length needed for a hairpiece.
  • Hair must be in a ponytail or braid before it is cut.
  • Hair must be clean and completely dry before it is mailed in.
  • Place the ponytail or braid inside of a plastic bag, and then inside of a padded envelope.

AFTER- (not the best picture, but the only one I have for now)
